VISION
Small projects for big change. Redressing the legacy of spatial inequality by incrementally upgrading South Africa’s informal settlements.
Who Are We
Since 1998, PEP, a not-for-profit organization (054-862-NPO), has supported informal settlements across South Africa through research on affordable housing solutions and disaster relief for fire and flood victims. PEP also focuses on informal settlement upgrading, unblocking stalled housing projects, and advocating for policies like re-blocking, now adopted by the City of Cape Town. By partnering with the Provincial Government’s ISSP, PEP supports communities in Agulhas and Bitou, helping them create leadership structures and development plans. PEP continues to evolve, driving impactful change in vulnerable communities across the country.
